She opened the machine up and looked at the printer and at the paper supply (it's a Kodak 4710 dye-sub printer, btw, if memory serves me correctly. After about five minutes, however, nothing was happening. The status of the printer said that it was Active and ready to print my order of 4圆 prints. I gave it my order of some 12 images to print up. I went to the KPM kiosk (this was my first time using THIS particular store and kiosk). Here's what happens, as will be clearly seen in my latest story. (on a side note: I read somewhere that kodak discontued production of the DX4530, because of technical issues.I went to my local Wal-Mart to try to get some digital prints done again.īut upon getting to the photo area, I found something that has been a chronic problem at this store. I'm going to continue my buttonpressing trial and error and let you know if I find out more (oh and because I have no warranty anymore, I'm going to see if I can find a tiny screwdriver to check out the camera's inside (mainly the lens) maybe I find something there.) I took a picture and I was errorized again. Also I could turn the camera on and off without error. I formatted the internal memory and could enter and exit the menu after that without problems, I in fact could press all the buttons (even review) as far as I remember now.

(and I now know I have Firmware version 1.0000, not that that helps much, because there is no way I can update that as far as I know, nor is there an updated firmware to be found) I was able to go through all the options in the entire menu without an error (did not change settings though). Repeated steps: Once I got the previewscreen again, I pressed the OK-button to enter the menu. This unfortunately did not solve the problem, it seems I can 'force' the lens inward manually, however when I use the zooming it gets stuck on the same place as before no strange noises or other signs that indicated a broken lens. I repeated above step without taking a picture, I played with zooming for about 10 minutes (frustated I might add) and twisted the bigger lensring manually, then it also moved inward, very smoothly. (note: Taking the battery out and putting it back in after about 5 minutes, sometimes seems to work as well, but not all the time.) This photo I was able to put on my computer and it looked like a normal photo I however was then able to turn on the previewdisplay and was able to take exactly one photo and then the error immediately returned, when it tried to automatically show me the review of it.

I repeated above step, but after setting time and date and pressing ok I directly pressed the zoom-in/zoom-out button, the small part of the lens turned clockwise and counterclockwise and moved back and forth, the bigger lensring (don't know how to call it) only turned counter-/clockwise but did not move outward or inward. So I set the date and time and pressed ok, it took 2 seconds before the error re-occured. It started like fresh, asking to set date and time. Then I put it back in and switched the camera on again. and I don't know if it helps someone but hey.Įven with the error on screen I can put it on the dockingstation and get the photographs onto my computer.Īfter I turned off the camera again, I took the battery out for a few hours.
